A beautiful area in southwest England, situated adjacent to popular Cornwall, Devon can give their neighbour a run for their money. With gorgeous sandy beaches, medieval towns, fossil cliffs and national parks, this part of the English Riviera is a must see.
There are plenty of family friendly places to visit along the north coast. The seaside resort of Woolacombe holds the ‘England for Excellence Gold Award’ for best family resort and with 3 miles of golden sandy beach and life guards on duty during peak season, its a great place to spend the day. There are also plenty of local amenities including toilets, family friendly restaurants and shops to enjoy. Once you come off the beach there is a pirate themed crazy golf and activity play area to keep kids happy. If love rock-pooling, Combe Martin is a great little place to try your luck. When the tide goes out there are plenty of rock pools and rugged caves to explore. Surfers will love the waves at Croyde beach, its stronger tide is perfect for more experienced surfers. Away from the beaches, there are plenty of attractions including the coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth, linked by the dramatic Cliff Railway, well worth a visit and an ideal way to see the dramatic coastline.

South Devon offers some of the best coastline in the UK with award-winning beaches, crystal clear waters and secluded coves to explore. Bantham Beach, Hope Cove Beach and Sandy Bay in Exmouth are just a few of the family friendly beaches you could visit. Teignmouth is also popular , the long beach is overlooked by a Victorian pier, with large children’s play area, skate park and crazy golf nearby.
South Devon has plenty of attractions for a great family day out including Crealy Theme Park and Resort in Exeter, The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park in Paignton. If you have water sport lovers in the family there are plenty of places along the coast offering a range of water sports including surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding.
