Family friendly holidays in Dorset
Dorset is a beautiful county with plenty on offer for families to enjoy from the impressive Jurassic Coastline to the wild horses and woodlands of the New Forest. Little dinosaur fans will love hunting for fossils, and Lyme Regis is one of the best places to visit if you want to do this.
There are plenty of family-friendly beaches along the coast; in fact Dorset boasts 25 Blue Flag and Seaside Awards. Weymouth is a traditional seaside town with soft sand beaches, donkey rides, and Punch and Judy shows to enjoy. Swanage beach has family-friendly designated swimming areas and miles of golden sands. Again Swanage offers a throwback to a traditional seaside experience with its beautiful pier and promenade. Miles of golden sands can be found at both Bournemouth and Poole, perfect for building sandcastles, and if you feel like splashing out why not hire a beach hut for the day.
Dorset has plenty of family-friendly attractions to visit. Monkey World is a popular choice and is home to over 230 rescued and endangered apes and monkeys.
Little ones will love Farmer Palmers in Poole which is specifically aimed at the under 8’s. There are plenty of play areas, both inside and out for them to let off steam plus lots of animals to see and cuddle including cows, lambs, ponies, rabbits and guinea pigs. The farm also offers plenty of toddler/baby friendly facilities including baby changing, low sinks for hand washing and high chairs.
Adventure Wonderland is another great family-friendly venue with over 30 rides and attractions – plus kids will love meeting Alice, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Mr Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat.
The Tank Museum is a great all-weather attraction and very interactive for little ones – not to mention a great way to learn about these impressive vehicles.
